Group Therapy

Healing doesn’t have to happen alone.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can hear is: “Me too.”

Group therapy brings people together who are going through similar struggles—anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship issues, trauma, stress, identity questions, or just trying to figure life out. In group, you get support and skills in a safe, confidential space led by experienced therapists.

You don’t have to carry it all by yourself. Group therapy helps you feel seen, understood, and supported—while learning how to cope more effectively.

Why Group Therapy Works

Group therapy offers something individual therapy can’t always provide: Connection. Perspective. Community. Real-life practice.

In group, you can:

  • Realize you’re not alone in what you’re feeling
  • Learn practical tools for coping and communication
  • Hear different perspectives and get real-time feedback
  • Practice healthy relationship skills in a safe setting
  • Build confidence and self-awareness
  • Support others and be supported in return

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about growing—together.

Why Choose Tandem Groups?

Not all therapy groups are created equal. Ours are designed to be supportive, effective, and genuinely life-changing.

At Tandem, our groups are:

  • Led by clinicians (not peer-led)
  • DBT-informed: a mix of skills and open processing
  • Safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental
  • Designed for connection + growth
  • Age-specific or topic-specific for the best fit
  • Ongoing/open (you don’t get “kicked out” after 6 weeks)
  • A great standalone option or addition to individual therapy

We blend evidence-based structure with real conversation—so sessions feel supportive, not scripted.

Group is a powerful option if you:

  • Feel alone or misunderstood
  • Want better emotional coping skills
  • Struggle with relationships or boundaries
  • Want feedback and support from peers
  • Are working on anxiety, depression, trauma, or stress
  • Are in individual therapy and want to deepen the work
  • Prefer connection over one-on-one only

Many clients say group helped them more than they expected—and often, more than individual therapy alone.

What Group Therapy Looks Like at Tandem

  • ~5–13 members per group
  • 2 therapists leading each session
  • Structured + flexible (skills + open discussion)
  • Respect, confidentiality, and safety are core values
  • Share at your own pace—no one is ever forced to talk

Every session includes:

  • Check-ins or process time
  • Skill-building or topic focus
  • Real-life application and support

Our goal: A space where you can be honest, feel supported, and grow—without judgment.

Why People Choose Group Therapy

Group therapy offers unique benefits:

  • Learn from others with similar struggles
  • Get multiple perspectives (not just your therapist’s)
  • Practice skills in real interactions
  • Build confidence speaking and setting boundaries
  • More affordable than individual therapy
  • Adds depth to individual work (many do both!)

Group therapy can be a valuable resource on its own or alongside individual therapy.
