Jesus Castro (B.S., Mental Health Counseling Intern)

Jesus is currently a Mental Health Counseling intern working under the clinical supervision and guidance of Dr. Ariel Ham, Psy.D., LCP, CSOTP, CATP, CCTP. Jesus is completing his last year in the William and Mary Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program with a Military-Veteran Concentration.

Jesus' goal is to empower clients and foster an environment in counseling that is supportive of personal growth and challenges areas of needs, as well as being flexible with different approaches and compassion. He focuses on emotional, mental, and physical struggles with a strength-based, humanistic, and person-centered approach. 

Jesus also has over 10 years of experience as a first responder and continues to serve as a professional Firefighter-Paramedic in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. He is open to working with clients of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences related to the following,

  • Substance misuse
  • First-generation assimilation and acculturation difficulties
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Irritability or anger issues
  • Codependency and relationship attachment struggles
  • Grief and loss
  • Religion and spirituality

His eagerness to work with clients is propelled by an enthusiasm to be realistic, approachable, and collaborative with clients.
