Rachel Boykin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. When you meet Rachel, you will find a person who has the privilege and honor to combine her two strongest passions: counseling and helping others. You will see that Rachel’s counseling style is multimodal, incorporating several evidence-based techniques from CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Rachel believes authenticity, collaboration, and trust are integral for a working relationship with her clients. She is a strong advocate for increasing multicultural competency and ethical standards in the field.
Before joining Tandem Mental Health Associates, Rachel worked various roles within the mental health field, including residential counselor, behavior therapist, crisis intervention responder, college counselor, and intensive in-home counselor. After having recently received her LPC, Rachel is now pursuing additional certification in ACT theory and Career Counseling. She is also an active member in the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD) and the Virginia Counseling Association (VCA).
Rachel views counseling as a collaborative journey between client and counselor. She provides a safe space for the client to problem solve. Outside of work, you will find Rachel enjoying a good book, widening her already large collection of teas, enhancing her culinary skills and furthering her knowledge on the practices of mindfulness and meditation.
In addition to seeing clients in Virginia, Rachel is now a "Telehealth Registered Professional Counselor" in the state of South Carolina. With this, Rachel can provide Telehealth services to clients temporarily and/or permanently residing in the state of South Carolina.
